The Fire Fighting certificate is designed for students who desire to enter a career in a municipal, county or state fire department. The material is linked with the Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Nevada Firefighter I Certificate. Students are given the opportunity to take the Nevada and National Fire Protection Association’s Firefighter I didactic and practical test. Course material must be taken in sequence with all prerequisites being completed prior to testing with the State Fire Marshal’s Office. The Fire Fighting certificate does not guarantee employment within any fire department in the State of Nevada. Students may be placed in a physically demanding environment designed to introduce the student to the job task and skills required to operate in the fire and emergency service.
