Triple-A Las Vegas Baseball Writer/Correspondent for Athletics Farm
We’re currently seeking someone who’d like the opportunity to learn about sports writing by serving as a local correspondent for the Athletics Farm website. The position involves covering the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators in their first season as an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, and in their first season in their new ballpark in Summerlin. It will require interviewing players/coaches/managers for features and writing other material that could include features/recaps/analysis pertaining to the team that will be published on our website. Schedule is flexible but applicants would need to be prepared to spend some time at the ballpark during and prior to a select number of home games in Summerlin.
Internship Job Responsibilities:
- Writing baseball-related content (features/recaps/analysis) that will be published online.
- Interviewing ball players/coaches/managers for features that will be published online.
- Interfacing with team PR people to coordinate interviews/coverage/etc.
- Understanding the daily process of sports coverage/team PR/press box operation

The intern will provide play-by-play of the action going on in the field and will work jointly with the color commentator to provide an informative, quality radio broadcast of the game. Researching information on both teams before the broadcast is required in order to provide a base knowledge of both teams to listeners. Interviews of coaches and/or players may be required as well. Vegas Golden Knights
GAME-NIGHT STAFF, COMMUNICATIONS AND CONTENT (PAID POSITION)
2-3 CREDIT INTERNSHIP, 100-150 HOURS
Essential Functions: The Las Vegas Golden Knights game night staff, Communications and content intern, will assist in all areas of the club's media relations, public relations and content creation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with teams media operations strategy during select game days at T-Mobile Arena and practice days at City National Arena
- Help in execution of clubs media credentialing process
- Represent organization and serve as media contact at various community events and initiatives
- Help with capturing content for official team channels
Key Competencies and Experience:
- Students should be in pursuit of Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field
- Relevant work experience for a professional or Collegiate sports team preferred
- Demonstrates strong writing and editing abilities
- Creative team player who works well within a group
- Positive, versatile, organized individual who can handle several responsibilities at once
- Embraces the VGK culture and no-ego approach
Schedule Overview:
- Candidate is expected to work a majority of Vegas Golden Knights home games
- Candidate is expected to work other events as assigned, including home games for the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights and the IFL's Vegas Night Hawks
- This is a paid position with part-time hours varying dependent on the team's schedule

MEDIA RELATIONS INTERN - (FULL-TIME) PAID POSITION

Media Relations Interns assist the Director of Media Relations in the fulfillment of media relations responsibilities at Las Vegas Aces home games. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts policies, practices and procedures.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Media Relations Intern assists the Director of Media Relations in the publicizing of the Las Vegas Aces’ on and off-court activities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creation of game notes prior to each game
- Writing, distribution and posting of post-game stories
- Writing, distribution and posting of preview stories
- Entering statistical data into excel sheets
- Writing, distribution and posting of Press Releases
- Maintaining credential database and distribute credentials
- Distributing information packets to visiting teams and national broadcasters
- Set up and over site of press room/press row
- Creation of postseason guides
- Updating of team website
- Facilitating interviews with media
- Attending media interviews, community events and other Aces' team events
SUPERVISION:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 1 year of work experience, or its equivalent, in athletics media relations at the collegiate or professional level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED:
- Degree or working towards degree in Journalism, Sports Management or a related field.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to communicate in English, in both written and oral forms
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, In Design, Photoshop
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
